Today, 8 September is World Literacy Day!
What better way to celebrate than with a story from Laura in Argentina about her team’s talks.
‘It is a great pleasure to see how something so simple as taking an online course can have such an impact and reach and influence the lives of so many people. It is this mission of spreading the word that reaches teachers who are wiling and happy to change their practice and do the necessary accommodations that will help their struggling students. Ever since I started sharing what I learnt from Dyslexia International through Dislexia Sin Fronteras, Dislexia Pilar and Dislexia Buenos Aires, I keep receiving thank you mails and comments from teachers who attend our lectures. They come to tell us how important this is and how much this is going to help them, how they can start understanding what happened to some of their students.

We are very proud of having visited different cities in Buenos Aires Province and two cities in Entre Rios Province and we hope to go on touring the country and spreading the word. Among the cities visited we went to Salliquelo, Trenque Lauquen, Pellegrini, Coronel Suarez, Paraná and Concepción del Uruguay. Some of these events have been considered of interest of the City Hall and have given credit to teachers. We also visited some schools like Cardenal Pironio, Oxford High School (UIA), San Juan, Colegio San Antonio and Profesorado No 51 in Pilar. Apart from this, I can see how the students I help at school are progressing since I started applying what I learnt in the course. I’m sure there are people all over the world feeling so thankful as myself at the selfless, caring job Dyslexia International is doing! Happy learning for happy children!’
