1 – ‘Supporting children with difficulties in reading and writing’
Join more than 48,000 learners who have enrolled in this Coursera MOOC taught by Dr Jenny Thomson and Dr Vincent Goetry
This course is for teachers to learn why some children have so much difficulty with reading and writing, often called ‘dyslexia’, and to learn more about best practice in teaching literacy to all in light of recent scientific discoveries. Participation in or completion of this online course will not confer academic credit for University of London programmes.
This MOOC has been made possible by a large team of volunteers as well as the generous financial and administrative support of the University of London International Programmes.
2 – ‘Basics for teachers: Dyslexia – How to identify it and What to do’
This course was first presented at UNESCO in 2010 in French and English. Initially designed specifically to address dyslexia in the classroom, it is recognized by experts as a leading programme for teaching literacy to learners of all abilities.

Dislexia: Causas e Consequências
Translated and adapted by Professor Angela Pinheiro and her team, University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Read here Professor Pinheiro’s description of its genesis and current status. This e-book is the most recent material that accompanies the course Dyslexia: Causes and Consequences, an adaptation of part of the Dyslexia International´s online learning course into Brazilian Portuguese and its educational context. It offers the main text of the course but goes beyond it, displaying in an accessible offline manner the multimedia and learning exercises available in the online course.
Dislexia Sin Fronteras, a team led by Maria Laura Scasso, Buenos Aires, Argentina, has produced a course in Spanish about dyslexia and its ‘co-morbidities’ based on our course. It is online and completely free of charge.
