Dyslexia Nigeria has now officially opened its doors to the public.
The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday 23rd January 2018 at the Dyslexia Nigeria Centre in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. Adrienne Tikolo writes from the Centre.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Government office for Disability Affairs, Dr Babatunde Awelenje, performed the ceremony. (Adrienne Tikolo is on the left.)
A representative of the Director General of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance was also present.
The immediate past Head of Service to the Lagos State Government, Mrs Folasade Jaji, supported him as special guest.
This was a landmark event for Nigeria and was aired on the National Television Network News.
Several newspapers also reported the story.
The Lagos State Office for Education Quality Assurance has asked Dyslexia Nigeria to present a proposal to instruct teachers in government or public schools (as we refer to them here), about the basics of identifying dyslexia.
Adrienne’s team is excited at the beginning of this new dawn in Nigeria and happy to pioneer true support for dyslexics in Nigeria.
